A Royal Getaway: Udaipur with My Husband

From Grand Palaces to Serene Lakes: Our Udaipur Trip

As the pleasant autumn breeze set in my husband, Nikhil and I decided it was the perfect time for a break from our usual routines. One evening at home we talked about where to go. We finally settled on Udaipur. This city has always captured our interest with its royal buildings and peaceful lakes. We carefully planned our trip to ensure we could enjoy every moment there.

Without wasting any time we booked our online train tickets for June 16th. We also reserved a hotel on Goibibo. With this, we are both set to make unforgettable memories.

Day 1: Arrival and Beginning our Udaipur Adventure

The Udaipur Trip with my husband Nikhil started from Ahmedabad Asarwa Railway Station on June 16th Sunday at 6:45 AM. We boarded the train and were all set for a nice break from our daily routine.

We arrived at Udaipur railway station around 12:30 PM. We took an auto straight to our hotel. After freshening up and having a delicious lunch at the hotel, we took a moment to chill.

Our hotel was close to Gulab Bagh. So we decided to visit this 100-acre garden and zoo. It was a serene place to unwind amidst lush greenery. There was also exotic fauna.

In the evening we headed to Sukhadia Circle Food Market for dinner. This vibrant street food hub offered variety of local delicacies.

Day 2: Discovering City Beauty and Heritage

The day started by visiting “Saheliyon ki bari”, Saheliyon-ki-Bari is a major garden. It is a popular tourist space in Udaipur. This beautiful garden features lush green lawns. It also has elegant fountains.

After enjoying Saheliyon Ki Bari we headed to Fateh Sagar Lake. One of Udaipur's most stunning lakes. We decided to board a boat to experience the lake's tranquility and scenic surroundings. For boating there are two options a motorboat ride priced at Rs. 89 per person and a speedboat ride at Rs. 236 per person. We decided to enjoy the motorboat.

Our next stop was the Maharana Pratap Smarak historical site dedicated to the legendary Rajput hero, Maharana Pratap. The memorial is located on Moti Magri hill. It offered a glimpse into the rich history of Udaipur. It also highlighted the bravery of its warriors.

In the evening we visited Bagore Ki Haveli. It now serves as museum and cultural center we were there to enjoy a Rajasthani folk dance performance. It took place from 7 to 8 PM. The ticket price for the show was Rs. 125 per person. And an additional Rs. 125 if you wanted to take pictures or record videos. The vibrant performances featured traditional music. The dance was mesmerizing.

After the show we took a short walk to Gangaur Ghat. It is conveniently located near Bagore Ki Haveli. The ghat is on the banks of Lake Pichola. It is a peaceful spot that provided a lovely view. The water and the surrounding architecture were beautiful.

Later in the evening around 9 PM we visited the Jagdish Temple. The temple was open late that night due to Ekadashi. A special occasion allowing us to witness the spiritual ambiance. We saw the detailed carvings at this temple.

The day was filled with exploration and beautiful sights and ended with delightful dinner at a nearby restaurant before heading back to our hotel.

Day 3 - Discovering More of Udaipur's Treasures

On third morning of our Udaipur adventure Nikhil and I started our day by visiting Navlakha Mahal. It is located within the expansive Gulab Bagh. The entry ticket was reasonably priced at Rs. 30 per person. This beautiful palace offered a tranquil start to our day. We walked through the lawns as the palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens and with historic architecture we felt a deep connection to Udaipur's rich heritage.

After that we headed to Karni Mata Temple located near Doodh Talai Lake. I have always wanted to visit this temple. I was thrilled to finally experience it. The easiest way to reach the temple by ropeway. Ropeway just takes 2-3 minutes to reach the top. The view from there was breathtaking. It was ideal for taking memorable photos.

By taking a short walk from the Karni Mata Temple ropeway we reached to Lake Pichola. We decided to enjoy boat ride on the lake. The boating tickets are available at City Palace. They are priced between Rs. 400 to 600 for majors and Rs. 200 for minors.

Next we went to the City Palace. It's a beautiful place with amazing architecture and rich history. The views from the higher levels are stunning. They are great for taking pictures. The entry ticket was 450 Rs per person for adults including the museum and just 50 Rs if you skip the museum.

Later we headed to Sukhadia Circle Food Market for dinner again as the place was so lively. Visiting the City Palace and eating at Sukhadia Circle were definitely some of the best parts of our trip.

Day 4 - Heading Back Home

We checked out from the hotel at 10 AM. We felt a mix of satisfaction and nostalgia from our wonderful experiences over the past few days. By 11:30 AM we arrived at the Udaipur private bus stop.

Our journey back to Ahmedabad was smooth and comfortable. We reached the Ahmedabad Shahibaug bus stop around 4:30 PM. From there, we grabbed a cab and headed home.

Our Udaipur trip was an amazing adventure filled with history. The city was full of culture and natural beauty. It provided perfect escape from our routine and left us with countless cherished memories. Alltogether, this was the perfect and much-needed break from our busy lives.
