Kabirvad is a well-known destination situated near the Narmada Dam. It is named after Saint Kabir, who lived there for many years. People visit Kabirwad not just for its historical significance but also to enjoy the spirituality offered by the magnificent banyan tree in the area. This site is famous for its large banyan trees originating from a single tree believed to be over 600 years old, now spreading across nearly 3 km with more than 3000 trunks. This place was named after the honored Saint Kabir who resided here for many years. The distance between Kabirvad and Vadodara is approximately 75 kms.

History

Kabirvad's history is full of interesting tales and mysteries. As per the old stories, Saint Kabir threw his Datun (a tree branch used as a toothbrush) onto the ground and it grew into a banyan tree and it then multiplied into over 3000 trees. The name comes from combining "Kabir" and "Vad" (the Gujarati word for banyan).

Kabirvad also hosts a significant Kabir Temple that attracts numerous visitors. The island offers a peaceful retreat combining historical significance with natural beauty.
