I recently visited Haridwar during my trip to Uttarakhanda and participated in Ganga ji Aarti. It was such a divine experience taking holly bath in Ganga ji and then participated in Aarti. Due to weekend, there was a huge crowd but if you are in Haridwar or Rishikesh, you must attend Ganga aarti at Har Ki Paudi (pauri).

Har Ki Pauri ghat is a famous pilgrimage in entire Haridwar where over millions of devotees take holy dip every year. There is a great importance to take a dip in Ma Ganga River at Har Ki Pauri ghat due to its spiritual connection from vedic time. Kar Ki Pauri Means “Feet of God” - Har means “God”, and Ki means “of” and Pauri / Paudi means “Feet”, this represents the significance of this place. It is believed that lord Vishnu has visited Brahma kund at Har Ki Pauri Ghat during vedic time and this is why this place is known as Kar Ki Pauri.
If you are visiting Haridwar, you must attend Ganga Aarti takes at Har Ki Pauri Ghat at sunset time (around 6:30 to 7:00 PM) every day. It is advisable to reach at ghat little early especially during weekend as it is always crowded and will be difficult to find the seating place during peak hours.
If you are traveling in private vehicle, there is enough paid parking space is available. Visit to Pandit Deen Dayal Parking and park your car there. Minimum parking charge is around 120 rupees for 4 hours. From parking, it is 5 minutes of walk to Har Ki Pauri Ghat.
It is very well connected via shared auto / electric auto who charge 20 to 30 rupees per person. It will hardly take 10 minutes to reach at Har ki Pauri from Haridwar Railway station or Gujarati samaj.
