Dakor Temple, Vadodara, Gujarat

Ranchhodraiji Dakor temple is well-known for its grand Shree Krishna temple, which is significant historically. It is located close to the Gomati holy lake's bank. The Dakor mandir was built in the year 1770.

History:

In ancient times, the area around Dakor was a dense jungle known as 'Hidamba' van. Sages came to the area to meditate in its pleasant environment. A sage named Dank Rishi did penance and pleased Lord Shiva. He requested Lord Shiva to stay in his hermitage permanently, so Lord Shiva left a replica of himself in the form of a Ling called Danknath Mahadev. This is how Dakor got its name, which was originally Dankor, and was also called khakhariya because of the many khakhra (palash) trees in the area.
